We are a diverse group of volunteers who are interested in identifying and recording the frequency and distribution of mushrooms, toadstools and other fungi that can be found throughout Oxfordshire. We do not allow general collection of fruiting bodies (we are not a foray group) and will only remove specimens from a site that cannot be identified in the field - we do not collect for any other purpose.
Each year we organise forays to the woodlands, grasslands and wetland parts of the county.
Newcomers are welcome to join us, to share in the excitement of finding fungi that are often overlooked and some not previously recorded. Beginners are encouraged, with help from the more experienced members, to learn how to identify fungi.
Our records are entered into the Fungal Records Database of Britain and Ireland (FRDBI), organized by the British Mycological Society. Where appropriate our records are also supplied to the Thames Valley Environmental Records Centre (TVERC). Please note records from confidential sites are not shared at a level that can identify any specific sites.
Please explore our website where information on our fungal surveys can be found.
